In our experience we typically see roofs failing because of inferior products, poor workmanship and ventilation issues.

Most residential roofs are replaced, or at least repaired, every fifteen to twenty years. By carefully choosing your residential roofing material, as well as choosing a professional roofing contractor, you can help reduce the cost of replacement or push it far into the future.

Above all what is the most important part of your project? Who is doing your install, how much experience do they have, and what types of products are you getting with them? Will they come back if there's a problem, how quickly will they respond to the issue, will they even fix it? Are they insured? How do you know?

DFW Best Roofing offers commercial roofing services including roofing repairs and maintenance, re-roofing and new construction.

Our experts continuously research new technologies and methods to ensure we're providing the best possible service and solution for businesses of every size and shape.

Replacement roofing systems on condominium and multi-residential properties is no small task — and not all contractors have the experience or resources to handle large-scale roofing projects.

Your roofing contractor needs expert knowledge of features unique to condominium and multi-residential properties. DFW Best Roofing has the experience and the crew of trained installers to handle all projects big and small.

  • EPDM Membrane Roofing – EPDM roofing systems are based on a high-performance synthetic rubber compound that provides outstanding weathering characteristics and are installed on primarily flat roofs
  • Chimney Flashing Repair – Chimney flashing is a very common point of entry for water into homes. Repairing leaky flashing is generally an easy repair for an experienced roofing company
  • Roofing Snow Removal – If you’ve had a big snowfall in your area and you’re wondering if your roof can stand the extra weight, don’t reach for a ladder and a shovel reach for the telephone. Calling in a professional to remove ice and snow from your roof is the smartest and safest option
  • Roof Leak Repairs – Not every roof needs to be replaced. Our Experience puts us in a position so we can track down and find most common leaks.
  • Emergency Leak Repairs and Tarping – Most leaks come when they are least expected and sometimes can’t always be fixed right away. You always deserve an answered call or a promptly returned call. If a problem arises we can tarp the area until the elements allow us to fix the problem.
  • Skylight installation and repairs
  • Attic Ventilation – Proper insulation and air sealing keeps attics cold in winter by blocking the entry of heat and moist air from below. (Preventing Ice Dams) In the summer, natural air flow in a well-vented attic moves super-heated air out of the attic, protecting roof shingles and removing moisture.
  • Soffit Venting – Soffit vents are a key element of a home’s attic ventilation system. Proper attic ventilation saves energy and prolongs the life of the roof, especially in areas that experience both hot summers and freezing winters.
  • Power fan Venting – Attic fans are intended to cool hot attics by drawing in cooler outside air from attic vents (soffit and gable) and pushing hot air to the outside. If your attic has blocked soffit vents and is not sealed well from the rest of the house, attic fans will suck cool conditioned air up out of the house and into the attic. This will use more energy and increase your summer utility bill.
  • Ridge Vent Installation – ridge vent is a type of vent installed at the peak of a sloped roof which allows warm, humid air to escape a building’s attic. Ridge vents are most common on shingled residential buildings.
  • Fascia and Plywood damage repairs – When completing residential roofing projects you never know what you are going to find under the shingles. Make sure your contractor has experience in dealing with such situations prior to the roofing project.

EPDM – Rubber Roofing

EPDM is a single ply, lightweight rubber membrane. First introduced in the 60’s, rubber roofing is time tested to endure all types of weather conditions. This product is arguably the most popular choice in low-sloped and flat roofs. Due to its overall quality, it is ideal for new construction as well as existing buildings. In most cases you are able to install an EPDM rubber roof system over an existing roof to save time and money. J Carnes & Son LLC is a proud installer of Mule-Hide EPDM rubber roof systems.

Asphalt Rolled Roofing

Asphalt rolled roofing was once one of the more popular roofing materials used in the low sloped roofing market. This type of roofing has its benefits as well as drawbacks. Here are a few of the pro’s and con’s when considering asphalt rolled roofing.

Pro’s of Asphalt Rolled Roofing

Cost: One of the more appealing things about this type of material is that it is cost defiant. If you are trying to work within a budget asphalt rolled roofing is your cheapest option.

Installation: Under good conditions, asphalt rolled roofing is one of the easier roofs to install.

The materials we use are installed by roofers who have fulfilled the training requirements of each manufacturer.  This helps to ensure that the roof installed on your home or business boasts of quality workmanship.  It also enables our company to offer you upgraded warranty options to help protect the investment that you’ve made in your new roof.

Asphalt shingles come in a variety of color and style options that can greatly enhance the curb appeal and functionality of your home.   To determine which products are best for your specific needs, please call 817 381 6855.  We can sit down and talk with you about the unique benefits attached to specific products and roofing accessories to help you make the right choice.

Asphalt Roof System

Cover entire house with tarps for protection

Re-roofing is a very messy project, especially when removing multiple layers of shingles. We take all the necessary precautions in protecting your property with the use of heavy duty tarps draped along the entire length of your house from top to bottom. Due to uncontrollable dust, it is recommended that customers cover or remove any valuables located in attic areas.

Strip all roof areas down to bare roof boards and remove all nails

Going over an existing roof is not recommended. This process does not give you the ability to properly inspect roof decks or flashings for damage. We will replace any damaged sheathing or flashing we come across during our deck inspection.

Chimney Work

Our chimneys are known to be the best in the business! We thoroughly clean the chimney of any old tar and caulk and remove existing flashings. We then grind out all necessary mortar joints before installing brand new lead flashing. All joints and visible cracks are sealed with mortar. We do not use caulk to attach flashings to brick. Please note, TAR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FLASHING! Any roofer who uses tar to tie into penetrations is inexperienced and will undoubtedly install a roof system that will fail. We also can remove your chimney if you are not longer in need of it.

Ice and Water Shield leak barrier

Ice and Water Shield or Bituthene is a membrane that works primarily as a leak and ice dam barrier. It is the first component installed on your new roof system. This product will help protect your roof deck in case of water damming in your gutters, wind driven rain, and, damaging ice dams. We
install this product covering at least the first 6’ of the leading edge of the roof deck. We also wrap all roof penetrations, including, but not limited to: chimneys, stove pipes, plumbing pipes and skylights.

Premium Breathable Roof Deck Underlayment

Underlayment is one of the most important elements when installing a roof system. Traditionally known felt paper has been proven to rot or become brittle before shingles can reach there useful life. This product is outdated and not recommended. To provide a critical extra layer of protection
between your shingles and your roof deck we install premium breathable synthetic underlayments. These products work as a second form of protection by preventing wind-driven rain from infiltrating under your shingles and causing damage to your roof structure or to the inside of your home. In addition, a premium roof deck underlayment will allow moisture from inside your attic to escape.

Plumbing Flashing

We install brand new plumbing flashing on every roof we do. We use an aluminum flashing boot with a rubber collar.

Aluminum Drip Edge

We use only top of the line 8 inch aluminum drip edge around the entire perimeter of all roofs. Drip edge prevents water from running down behind the trim of your home. Watch out for companies who try and cut cost with a less performing 5 inch drip edge. Customers can choose between a milled finish, white, brown or black.

Starter Strips

Pre-cut starter strips are one of the most overlooked parts of a roofing system. Most roofers try and reduce cost by fabricating starter strips out of shingle scraps. This method does not guarantee a glue line at the leading edges of your roof. We use only precut starter strips that are installed around the entire perimeter of your roof (eaves and rakes). This installation increases your wind coverage on both the System Plus and Golden Pledge Warranties.

Asphalt Shingles

Almost every steep slope residential roof system installed in the northeast involves asphalt shingles. Even with an array of premium shingle styles available, nowadays, most homeowners opt for the best bang for their buck and choose a standard 30yr architectural shingle. Despite the fact that we highly recommend and primarily install Owens Corning and GAF roofing products, we do offer installations with warranties using any asphalt shingle available on the market.

Storm Nailing or Hurricane Nailing

Manufacturers and most building codes only require 4 nails per shingle. To maximize wind warranties and overall protection we attach every shingle with no less than 6 nails.

Attic Exhaust Ventilation

Proper ventilation is required to protect your roof from premature deterioration. Heat and moisture builds up in attic areas causing mold, mildew, rot and even exterior ice dams to say the least. Properly installed ridge vents or roof vents allow heat and condensation to escape at the most
effective location – the ridge. Ventilation is code and is mandatory on every roof system we install.

Hip and Ridge Cap

Capping a roof, when shingling, is the final step in the roofing process. The cap serves to seal the ridge or hips of the roof where the shingles come together from either side. We install only factory cut cap accessories made specifically for the architectural shingles we are installing. Most companies will attempt to reduce costs by fabricating cap on site out of cheaper grade three-tab shingles. This method is not recommended when installing an architectural roof system. Not only is there a risk of color variation, three-tab shingles carry less of warranty than architectural shingles and will expire much sooner than the rest of your roof.

Clean up and Disposal

We pride ourselves with a clean worksite. All debris is hauled to the recycling facility using our own dump equipment. We do not burden our customers with third party dumpster companies. We use high powered earth magnets to assure all nails are removed from the yard – the premises will be
left in broom clean condition.

Emergency Roofing Services

Whether your roof is currently leaking or if you notice it has sustained damage from wind, rain, or snow, our emergency response team can help keep your building protected. When a roof is damaged, prompt action should be taken to ensure damage is minimized.

Roofs can be damaged from a variety of causes. Here are a few that we commonly deal with:

Wind Damage

High winds can damage the best roofing systems. If your roof was damaged after a recent storm, please contact us immediately for repairs to keep the weather out!

Aging

As roofs age, they experience a natural deterioration that can lead to damaged flashing, missing shingles, and more.

Ice Dams

Freeze-thaw cycles throughout the winter months can lead to the development of ice dams on your home. Ice dams begin small, but can grow and work their way under your shingles and into your home.

Improper Installation/Defective Materials

New homeowners are often surprised to find that their roof, only a few years old, has sprung a leak. This can be caused by improper installation – or defective materials that cannot stand up to weathering. In either case, we can help.

Our Process

When you contact our team at  DFW Best Roofing, in need of an emergency roof repair, we will work with you quickly to assess the situation and provide you with a quality solution that will last. From replacing missing shingles to locating and stopping the source of a roof leak, our experienced roofers will work with you to eliminate your roofing problems.

When faced with roof damage or leaking, a roof replacement is not always the solution; sometimes, all you need is a quality repair project. It is crucial, however, to complete the repairs promptly and correctly to prevent the damage from increasing and extending to other areas of your home. Water seepage can cause mold and mildew damage, which is bad for the construction of your house and the health of your family.

There are many reasons why you might need a roof repair, such as:

  • Old, damaged, or wrongly installed flashing
  • Damage to shingles due to rain, wind, snow or a hail storm
  • Damage from ice dam formation
  • Etc.

Our team has installed and repaired roofs all around your area.  You don’t have to worry about keeping your family dry or making hard choices when there are dedicated local professionals only a phone call away.

provides the Seacoast with low slope roofing &  flat roofing solutions for your home, business, or commercial property. There are a variety of low slope and flat roof system options available to you and what you choose is dependent on your specific application. With your specific building in mind the DFW Best Roofing team can discuss with you the pros and cons of each type and can help you understand the choices so that you can choose wisely.

Ventilation

Poor ventilation will vastly shorten the life of roofing materials. Daily, we see roof systems expire early due to either inadequate ventilation or no ventilation at all. Proper attic ventilation will not only extend the life of a roof but it will help reduce problems as it helps balance, or minimize the temperature differential between the air in the attic and the air outside. Simply stated; proper roof ventilation removes damaging heat and moisture from attic areas. It is key to an energy efficient, healthy home.  While your home needs to be sealed tightly to reduce heating and cooling costs, it also needs to have adequate airflow, to prevent moisture accumulation and provide adequate fresh air within your home.

Skylights

Filling a room with natural light is incredibly beneficial- it can transform your mood as well as your home. Skylights can make the colors in the room appear brighter, reduce dependence on electricity, maintain privacy without sacrificing sunlight and allow fresh air to fill the space.

VELUX Skylights are a beautiful solution for adding more sunlight into your home.

Skylights and Sun Tunnels are designed to bring light  and fresh air in through your roofing from overhead, and by their very nature these light sources are out of easy reach. Not only is it important that your skylight looks nice, it needs to be a structurally sound piece of your roofing system. Skylight installation varies in its complexity and cost, depending on the construction of your homes roof and ceiling. When choosing a roofing contractor to install your skylight, choose carefully.  The wrong contractor can void your roof’s warranty, cause leaks and damage the stability and structure of your entire roof.

Chimney Flashing and Repair

One of the more common places for a leak to occur on a roof is around the Chimney. Unless flashed properly your chimney will leak resulting in added expense to repair rot, interior water damage and the actual source of the leak. With every roof system that we install we make certain that the chimneys are flashed correctly using proven techniques endorsed by both the National Roofing Contractors Association and GAF the largest manufacturer of roofing products in North America.

First we clean your chimney of all existing tar and metal flashings. The deck around the chimney is thoroughly inspected for loose wood and or rot. If either of these are present we will repair. Next, if applicable we build a cricket at the back of the chimney. A cricket is basically a small peak that sits behind the chimney. The purpose is to prevent the water from hitting the chimney directly in the back by simply diverting it to either side. Chimney crickets are recommended on every chimney that is built through the center of a roof. Chimneys which are built up the exterior side of a wall or through the ridge of the roof do not need crickets.

The next step is to grind out all the mortar joints needed to secure the counter flashing. We then wrap the chimney securely with an ice and water shield leak barrier. The shingles are then step flashed around the sides and back of the chimney using a single piece of aluminum step flashing for each shingle. Lead counter flashing is installed and all joints are mortared.

Our chimney’s are GUARANTEED not to leak!

Be wary of a company that does not specifically detail their flashing procedure with your chimney. Tar manufactures claim tar is flashing. Tar might be useful for a quick temporary fix in an emergency situation, however, it is not acceptable for a permanent application.

Most roofing companies do not offer a properly flashed chimney. It involves masonry work that novice roofers are not accustomed to. A properly flashed chimney using lead, aluminum or copper will out last your asphalt roofing materials.

Make sure to ask questions to avoid headaches. And never let the low ball roofer convince you tar is ok; It’s not, it will cost you in the long run!
